There are 3 albums in between that show their growth. As early as Insomnia, they were already beginning to tinker with their basic formula and, by the time you get to Warning (the band's most underrated and least commercially susccessful album) an album where the band more fully embraced their politico-Clash influences, then American Idiot really isn't all that much of a jump.scott91777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-37089083854717499192009-05-18T09:22:00.000-04:002009-05-18T09:22:00.000-04:00Gordon,

Scott m...Well, Look, ...at least the cover's good.

Scott makes a good point that the band had to move on and, in fact, it’s a point the band themselves were keen to make on the ’American Idiot’ press tour (I’ve listened to a lot of Green Day by proxy: whilst they are not the type of band I care for, my best friend loves them.)Gordon Harrieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10752143420582279303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-2189885669050190572009-05-18T09:00:00.000-04:002009-05-18T09:00:00.000-04:00But would'nt it be even more sad if they were STIL...But would'nt it be even more sad if they were STILL releasing albums called Dookie and writing songs about masturbation?scott91777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-83637118382911028712009-05-18T08:10:00.000-04:002009-05-18T08:10:00.000-04:00I'm going to say something embarassing now: I like...I'm going to say something embarassing now: I liked American Idiot when it came out.

BUT...

There's something incredibly sad about a pop-punk band, whose major label debut was called Dookie, try to turn themselves into U-fucking-2.Christian O.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00444025571307204096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-30128960066609541682009-05-17T21:08:00.000-04:002009-05-17T21:08:00.000-04:00Oh, Scott.
