John Milton became famous for all of his allusions in Paradise Lost. Tarantino did the same thing. I also heard in some conferences of his that he likes poetry and I thought that he learned from John Milton.Raminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04504572743111436307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-78962534179329497452011-01-21T12:09:57.496-05:002011-01-21T12:09:57.496-05:00Surely Owen Wilson gets a lifetime pass on the str...Surely Owen Wilson gets a lifetime pass on the strength of Bottle Rocket-Rushmore-Royal Tenenbaums alone? There aren't enough Marley & Dupree's in the world to undo all that good work.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14740669500899738381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-91392082593131882172011-01-20T19:55:12.300-05:002011-01-20T19:55:12.300-05:00Robyrt, do you really believe that a movie came ou...Robyrt, do you really believe that a movie came out where Jackie Chan does kung fu on cowboys in the Old West and that Quentin Tarantino didn't go see it?Dylan Toddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15550687762896316858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-39157131771648376192011-01-20T17:20:42.378-05:002011-01-20T17:20:42.378-05:00Yeah, it is not a super-strong connection. But I want to keep it in mind as a possibility, however faint, because the Chan-Lee rivalry which may be signaled here matches up with the larger Bruce Lee theme of the House of the Blue Leaves. These blogs are very much me trying connections out to see if they fit. If it were an essay I would have edited this out of the final draft probably, but what you are seeing here is me writing a first draft, misfires and all.Geoff Klockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09080580776997273785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-36570863707549836812011-01-20T17:09:05.664-05:002011-01-20T17:09:05.664-05:00This one was confusing. There's pretty much nothing to suggest that Tarantino has ever seen Shanghai Noon - they are both playing in the same goofy martial arts cowboy movie space, but that's it. They both use the standard weighted-chain bits, but GoGo uses the opposite of Chan's fighting style: she is basically doing the same 2 moves over and over, instead of mixing it up every time for fun value.Robyrtnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23042008.post-57187786901758824232011-01-20T13:55:05.775-05:002011-01-20T13:55:05.775-05:00I am totally glad you agree with me on this!
