Free Form Comments

Say whatever you want to in the comments to this post -- random, off topic thoughts, ideas, suggestions, questions, recommendations, criticisms (which can be anonymous), surveys, introductions if you have never commented before, personal news, self-promotion, requests to be added to the blog roll and so on. If I forget, remind me. Remember these comments can be directed at all the readers, not just me.

ALSO. You can use this space to re-ask me questions you asked me before that I failed to answer because I was too busy.

AND you can use this space to comment on posts that are old enough that no one is reading the comments threads anymore.

You do not have to have a blogger account or gmail account to post a comment -- you can write a comment, write your name at the bottom of your comment like an e mail, and then post using the "anonymous" option.

WRITING FOR THIS BLOG. If I see a big free form comment that deserves more attention, I will pull it and make it its own post, with a label on the post and on the sidebar that will always link to all the posts you write for this blog. I am always looking for reviews of games, tv, movies, music, books and iPhone apps.

i need tips for how to get myself unselected from a jury. I have to go back tomorrow morning directly to a panel selection that was postponed today. I got removed from the first panel but only because I had a wholly uncomfortably personal reason that I ended up having to announce to the accused, the lawyers, the judge and everyone in the damned room. 1) I don't want to have to ever do that again and 2) I highly doubt the next case(s) I get on a panel for will happen to coincide with a personal event in my life that would render me unable to be impartial. Keep in mind, I am part of a jury selection in Queens County NY which means my acting completely: insane, autistic, mentally challenged, or like I cannot speak/understand english will mean i am MORE likely to get selected than not. anyways, any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to have to spend the next two weeks or more dragging my ass to court and trying to feign like I am both awake and non-judgmental.

Good News! It looks like the chaif of my depatrment is totally open to my teaching a class on Supeheroes and ethics for Core 202 next spring (that would be Spring 2011). I think I'm going to call it 'Holy Facism Batman!'

Geoff, I really hoping you're planning to review Planetary #27.

sa - not that it will help, but on my last jury duty, i told them that, as a psychologist, i cannot remove mental suffering from a consideration of a personal injury case. they let me out, but they were PISSED.

I really don't know how the American jury selection process works but I remember a story Jello Biafra told about when they were screening jurors for his trial for distributing harmful matter to minors. One young guy, when asked if there was any reason he could not serve as an impartial or objective member of the jury replies: "Yeah: all cops are LIARS." OUT!

I remember being on a jury-selection thing, and the crime involved somebody getting drunk and pulling some shenanigans.

Jurors were asked how much they drank. I told the lawyer I didn't.

"At all?"
"Never. Well, once, in college."

in the end my horrendous cough/chest cold got me out. I went in, walked up to the court officer in the jury room and started to speak and she said: whoa, are you sick? and I nodded (I sound like patty and/or selma right now) and she said: go home, now.

sad thing is, she said they'll be calling me back in 6 months. I have hope that they'll just forget, but i know i'm just fooling myself.

Btw, if anyone want to change their voicemail message into something creepy for halloween, I am available.

I don't know about 'creepy' but having Patty and/or Selma do my voicemail is an appealing thought :)

Geoff, is it possible to get added to the blogroll?

I invite everyone to drop by!

Is there a list of release dates of all the Planetary issues? I would be curious to see that.

In the hopes it will lead to the review...
