Free Form Comments

Say whatever you want to in the comments to this post -- random, off topic thoughts, ideas, suggestions, questions, recommendations, criticisms (which can be anonymous), surveys, introductions if you have never commented before, personal news, self-promotion, requests to be added to the blog roll and so on. If a week goes by and I have failed to add you to the blog roll TELL ME TO DO IT AGAIN, and KEEP TELLING ME UNTIL IT GETS DONE. I can be lazy about updating the non-post parts of this site. Remember these comments can be directed at all the readers, not just me.

ALSO. You can use this space to re-ask me questions you asked me before that I failed to answer because I was too busy (but now might not be). That is often the reason I fail to get back to people, and on a blog, after a few days, the comments thread dies and I just kind of forget about it. Let's use this space to fix that, because it does need to be fixed; I look like a jackass sometimes, leaving people hanging. I will TRY to respond to any questions here.

AND you can use this space to comment on posts that are old enough that no one is reading the comments threads anymore. For example, if you thought of a great quote for the great quote commonplace book, but now no one is reading that, you could put it here. You do not have to have a blogger account or gmail account to post a comment -- you can write a comment, write your name at the bottom of your comment like an e mail, and then post using the "anonymous" option.

WRITING FOR THIS BLOG. If you think your free form comment here might be better as its own post, but you do not want it to be public yet, email it to me. My email address is available on my blogger profile page. If I think it will work on this site, your post will be published here with your name in the title of the post. You can propose what you will, I am always looking for reviews of games, tv, movies, music and books.

If you think what you have to say -- new topic or comment on an existing topic -- would be better to hear than to read, use the CALL ME button on the toolbar on the right.

Some of you might recall that months ago I had mentioned I was starting a Comics club at the middle school I work at. Tomorrow night is my school's big spring celebration, and my club is going to have a booth set up with some work created by the kids in my club. Hopefully, I'll be scanning some stuff soon to share with you all - two of the boys put together a 12 page Spiderman comic that turned out really cool, and a group of them worked together on these big poster-size manga style drawings, all of which turned out awesome and make me wish I could draw. Thanks to those of you who had suggestions for me way back when.

Since All Star Batman and Robin got pushed back, I just thought I'd comment on one of my new favorite Batman moments, I just watched the New Frontier this week and on his first meeting with Martian Manhunter, Batman tells him "I've got a 70,000 dollar sliver of radioactive meteorite to keep the one from krypton in line... all I need for you is a penny for a book of matches"

Totally Badass...

I also read the first volume of the Sinestro Corps and, I have to say, I can't disagree with a comment I once heard about Geoff Johns writing being 'glorified fan fiction'... because this is EXACTLY the kind of Green Lantern story I would have come up with when I was twelve... but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. If nothing else, my inner twelve year old thought it was pretty cool. Thoughts on this?

The new Breeders album is fucking awesome. Colour me surprised.

I also, erm, acquired the limited edition of The Microphones: The Glow Part 2... I replaced the old version, it's great stuff (Though I still like: It Was Hot... better)

Loved Sinestro Corps!!! LOVED IT! Even more, I love the IDEA of it. Shocking that this idea had never been done before (Much like Secret Invasion)

Yeah, not being steeped in Green Lantern lore, I was all "wait, there's NOT a Yellow Lantern Corps?"

Speaking of All-Star Batman, did everybody see Frank Quitely's variant cover for the next issue? Holy shit Batman, that's the best Robin I've ever seen.

The cover for marvel 1985 has been buggin my recently. Mostly because magneto is on it. Are they honestly going to put him in a book about the villians coming to "our world"? Whats he gonna do when he finds out there are no mutants here?

Ping, what's the title of the new Breeders album?

I just finished watching My Name Is Earl and, I gotta say, it's the smartest dumb show on TV.

It's definitely not as good as 30 Rock or the Office and while a lot of the humor can be a tad on the dumb side it continues to take a show with a seemingly limited premise and keep it both fresh and compelling.

Have you heard about Iron Fist? After issue 16, the entire team is leaving the book.

I for one am heartbroken.

Tangentially related promotion:
If anyone is in NYC, and specifically Brooklyn, a few books from the company I work for is having a coming out to do at the Rocketship store:
Jeffrey Brown's Little Things and Ariel Schrag's Awkward and Defintion and Potential

So come out if you folks are into the autobio business too.
