Blog Numbers

The numbers of hits for this blog are down. I want them to go up. All I do is post a bulletin to my 1200+ Myspace friends, but that is clearly not working as well as it used to. I think we lost a lot of readers when the New X-Men posts stopped. I know I need to do pod-casting and video-blogging but I SWEAR I cannot find the time to figure the tech out what with prepping classes, and trying to find more work (since I am merely an adjunct).

Suggestions?

It always seems to me that your movie reviews are a big hit, even for the ones on dvd. I know I love them. I have sent a few people here on occasion to check it out although I am not sure if they continue to view it.

Get Fraction to plug you again. That's how I ended up here.

Taking a dramatic and diverse stand on something that's "hot" right now might help. Those posts always seem to spur a big and good discussion.

I suggest seeing the Simpsons movie and strongly disliking it. haha. Otherwise go back to your heavy hitter-posts. Morrison and Miller. Your comments about those guys are always your A-Game. Maybe even something about Alan Moore or Lost Girls? Nobody ever talks about him thesedays...

you know about my suggestion re: the av club. I also think become a kind-of regular poster there might help, not everyone who comments is a freak and I think that is a fairly popular forum that would, for the most part, respond well to your line of thinking

but that's just me

you could also post more about me. and my lovely wonderfulness. that's always interesting ;-)

actually, i prefer to read the print posts anyway--i always have the best of intentions to watch or listen to A/V stuff, but rarely do. reading this is something i can do on quick breaks at work.

i agree that the movie and TV episode reviews are fantastic--i particularly enjoy as you follow each season of "Lost."

Do an episode by episode review of Lost, 24, The Sopranos, or any other show that millions of people have bought the DVDs for and need a new excuse to rewatch. Personally I would love to see this type of breakdown created for Avatar, Samurai Jack, or Batman the Animated Series, but if we're talking hit numbers, then maybe I'm just being selfish.

No expert on how figuring out what attracts readers, but how about adding Heroes to the above? I've no idea if the show's been seriously discussed, here or elsewhere. It'd need a hook, mind.

Also - did you ever write anything much on Seven Soldiers? Providing you're not fed up of Morrison for now, a series of posts on it would be quite a task. I re-read it all the other day and a number of things jumped out, particularly as I'd just got done reading the first of Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus collections.

Whatever it is, looking forward to it. Run hard for content.
Mikey.
