Did anyone watched the Tomb Raider Re\Visioned by the Aeon Flux guy? Pretty bad story, but the art's great

I just recently re-watched all the Aeon Flux shows, and i was surprised at how much it overlaps with Casanova.... Zephyr is basically Aeon Flux. There's an episode where Aeon and her nemesis fight over a Lord of Light-type god. At any rate, i'd forgotten how awesome that series is. It's worth checking out with Casanova in mind

Random- Is it me or does Warren Ellis post way too many Myspace "Brain Mail" bulletins?? Hasn't he got, like, 8 books to write??

The first episode of the new comic internet video show I'm on is now "on the air" at our Myspace (www.myspace.com/itsonlycomics) and our YouTube (www.youtube.com/itsonlycomics). We're working on the second episode this weekend, hopefully to be up on Wednesday or so.

Even though I like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, will you add me to your blog roll?

Thanks!

I fianlly read the final installment of Ultimates 2, I've been waiting for the trade and it was well worth the wait. What a ridiculously dudical super hero comic! The final arc involved everything Millar had already done turned up to 11. Ultimates is such a fun action romp of a super hero comic and it just seems like the perfect venue for Millar to write his political allegory slash superhero amrageddon. By the time I reached the 8 page spread I really didn't even know how to look at it, I just spread it across my floor and couldn't stop laughing at how insane it was. An 8 page spread by the unbelievably intricate Bryan Hitch, did Millar simply ask for an 8 page spread? I just can't even imagine the point in the creative process when these two just realized that 8 pages were neccesary to service the larger than life quality of The Utimates. Millar also suceeds in making every character shine, Quicksilver and Hawkeye steal the show for a majority of the story but I'm still not sure if they top Captain America with a mother flippin lightsaber!!! I love the Ultimates!

Scott: that is interesting; I have not seen Aeon Flux in years. I will have to re watch it. I remember I loved it.

Mitch: I never read them. Should I?

Thacher: I will check it out as soon as I get a chance. You may have to remind me -- keep telling us on Free Form Comments when these go up.

Jason: you are added.

Brian: I see your point but I thought it was too much like the ending of volume 1. I do love that the 8 page spread seemed designed to slam Miller's Batcave spread in All Star 4.

How funny Geoff- I never read them either. I just see them pop up so much. I shouldn't talk smack.

A heads up for anyone who lives in, around, or within traveling distance of Toronto - I'm going to be organizing the 'Comics in the Academy' panel for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (August 18-19), and while it's somewhat short notice, I'm putting out a call for panelists. Very belated thought on your Morrison NXM posts that's only just occurred to me: how does Fantomex being Apollyon in Here Comes Tomorrow tie in with the stuff from earlier in the run about him being all about misdirection?

Fraction was wrong, both: Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Obscured by Clouds are marvelous albums which even the most hardened hipster needs to recognize.

should I drop 1,000 more dollars on a tiny-arsed macBook (2.0GHz, 1mb, 13-inch) for my new life as grad student (I am thinking of combining my graphic design life more with my painting life and though it would be handy to have a lap top in my studio at school)

or should I go for the 15-inch MacBook pro for 1800 (2.2GHz intel core duo and 2GB) which I could use for both school and work and that way perhaps my current employer might feel I was still useful since now I could work "on the go".

Or, being that I owe my loving parents 1500 more dollars on my "thanks for helping me buy my super-powered G5 tower" payment plan plus the 2,000 that's currently waiting to be paid off on next month's credit bill (for airconditioners and a new couch) should I just not blow anymore hard earned cash on my mac habit?

I need to know cos I really wanna get in on that "buy a mac thing get a nano if you're a student" promo they're throwing in my face. But it's not a good idea.

Geoff Klock said...

Sara: If you get the nano with the laptop I can keep your hand-me-down pink mini iPod I have been using since my older-than-dirt hand-me-down original IPod -- which everone thinks is the video because it is so big -- no longer accepts songs from your G5 computer.

Wow that is a ridiculous sentence.

Neil: good luck -- let us know who you get.

BH: dude I have no freakin idea, but that is a totally good question. My guess: morrison forgot all about the misdirection thing.

Today is friday the 13th, but that is not my point. Someone really needs to get ahold of the people who keep making the Harry Potter movies. They just completely rip apart the book's story, and they make me want to show people how to read a book. Maybe I read to much for this day n age...

Streeborama said...

In honor of the date - I just watched Friday the 13th parts 2,3,4 and 6.

Man, those were the days.

Christian O. said...

I didn't even realise it was Friday the 13th, till Ellis pointed it out, but it certainly explained why that day sucked so hard and everything sudden got better roughly six minutes after midnight.

Geoff: I'll drop you a line when Episode 2 is finished. We're going to be shooting this weekend, and hopefully some of the editing problems we ran into with the first one will be fixed, and it'll be up by Wednesday.

If anyone wants to argue about censorship, I just put up a long post on my blog about the Captivity billboard nontroversy.

Or if you don't, I'll save you the trouble and just tell you: I'm against censorship.

Geoff, It's Justin from your ENG 102 and 103 Classes at LAGCC. I'm just wondering what your take on JJ Abrams new movie "1-18-08" aka Cloverfield?

I was blown away after being the preview before Transformers and now I'm watching all these people in YouTube dissect the trailer for information and stuff. It's pretty insane. The only clue I've really found is that it's some sort of monster movie, because you can hear someone in the trailer yell out "It's Alive and It's Huge". Just wanted to get your take on things

Streeborama said...

This JJ Abrams trailer sure has everyone in the horror commmunity talking. Some are speculating that it's a new Cthulhu movie while others are saying it's just an American take on kaiju monter movie. The reality is that no one knows yet - but the way the trailer was presented has definitely piqued everyone's interest.

Elijah Fly said...

Chutulu by way of a kaiju monster movie would be awesome.

Mitch said...

Also, the website for the movie is really neat.

eric: Ha. I only saw the prisoner of Uzbeckestan. That joke never gets old to me.

Streebo: awesome.

Christian: share that story, if you like. I kinda want to know what happened 6 minutes after midnight...

Thacher: thanks

Dante: thanks

Justin -- you can continue to post as Justin. [Justin, by the way, was one of my best students]. I am sorry to tell you that I did not see transformers and have missed the whole cloverfield thing completely. Someone tell me where to go for reasonable info gathering.
