Free Form Comments

Say whatever you want to in the comments to this post -- random, off topic thoughts, ideas, suggestions, questions, recommendations, criticisms (which can be anonymous), surveys, introductions if you have never commented before, personal news, self-promotion, requests to be added to the blog roll and so on. If I forget, remind me. Remember these comments can be directed at all the readers, not just me.

ALSO. You can use this space to re-ask me questions you asked me before that I failed to answer because I was too busy.

AND you can use this space to comment on posts that are old enough that no one is reading the comments threads anymore.

You do not have to have a blogger account or gmail account to post a comment -- you can write a comment, write your name at the bottom of your comment like an e mail, and then post using the "anonymous" option.

WRITING FOR THIS BLOG. If I see a big free form comment that deserves more attention, I will pull it and make it its own post, with a label on the post and on the sidebar that will always link to all the posts you write for this blog. I am always looking for reviews of games, tv, movies, music and books.

Anyone else out there, who played Gears of War 2? Is the story in the game intentional stupid and is the homoerotic machismo ironic, or would I be right in assuming, that it's just as retarded and stupid, as I found it to be?

It is retarded and stupid. And the best part: http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1598150/story.jhtml

Another video game with an Oscar-worthy story (sarcasm) is 'Lost Planet: Extreme Condition,' all inspiring directors should check that one out as a lesson on how not to tell a story.

Been very busy lately, but a few things worth checking out:

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album 'It's Blitz' is really quite good. I picked up The Gaslight Anthems most recent album '59 Sound, not the most original record ever (particularly in terms of the lyrics... I think I might write a post on the line between homage and plagirism) but pretty decent.

Wilco released a new live 'film' this week. Really good, amazing performances... Watching Nels Cline play gives me a guitar boner... plus you can download the audio for free online (well, you will be able to once they work out the bugs).

Dylan review is forthcoming...

Also, looking to getting into some new stuff... in furthering my Rap knowledge, Lupe Fiasco has been reccomended to me by several people. And, since I love Garage Rock, I was thinking of checking out the Chesterfiled Kings. I was going to get their latest but, if someone else has a better starting point, I would appreciate a good reccomendation.

Movies that are weird if you imagine the actors as the superheroes they've played:

JUNO (Elektra adopts Kitty Pryde's illegitimate baby.)

Seabiscuit

The Illusionist = The Incredible Hulk vs. Harvey Pekar (although Norton hadn't been the Hulk yet and I don't know how vs. they get because I haven't seen it.)

Oh, I guess if Wonderboys counts that chronology doesn't matter.

In which case Juno also has Scott Pilgrim knocking up Kitty Pryde, and Hard Candy has Nite Owl's superheroine fetish going TOO FAR! Kitty gives him what for, though.

In Pineapple Express, the Green Goblin II has an adventure with the Green Hornet (pending).

And in Superbad, the Green Hornet (pending) takes Kick Ass's Red Mist under his wing! Oh my!

very cool stuff I will follow this blog

Lupe Fiasco's The Cool is really good. At the time it was released, everyone was still on Kanye's "Graduation" but I was like--hey guys, this is better. I think I like Tha Carter III better, just 'cause of how fun Weezy is, but The Cool is certainly better than most rap discs. Especially T.I.'s last one which everyone seemed to like except for me.

Thanks Jake,

What's the word on that Lil' Wayne Rock album that's supposed to be coming out?

Also, I checked out the Chesterfiled Kings... pretty decent and now I'm thinking I'm going to pick up The Stones' December's Children... go back to the source, you know? I already own Between The Buttons which is probably one of my favorite Stones albums.

Also, is anyone else addicted to the pick your 5 lists on Facebook?

My best list so far:

5 things to have in case Zombies attack:

5. Zombie Survival Guide (I wanted to put 'Sweet Dance Moves' but no one had put it up yet)

4. Michael Jackson's outfit from Thriller

3. A Shovel (to whack Zombies)

2. Extra Brains

1. Vinyl Records

I just thought of another one:

Thank You For Smoking:

J.J. Jameson and Harvey Dent team up to Lobby for cigarettes; Harvey Dent's son is 'Leech' from X3 and Harvey hooks up with the wrong Rachel Dawes.

Not as good as the Juno one... but what can be really?

Can't believe I forgot J.J. was Kitty's dad.

Scott, my rap glands were pleasantly surprised to find Themselves' new mixtape theFREEhoudini available for free (clue's in the title I guess) download at the Anticon site and it's good to hear Doseone rapping again.

The Anticon guys get a lot of shit, but there's an interview with Dose up at the Onion that's hilarious and cool.

Highlights include "I’m not gonna look like one of those horses with its back caved in when I get up on these later records."

And:

"The other thing they made me realize—and if people read The Onion and want to come fight me over this, fine—if you don’t freestyle, you really are bullshit. You’re a fish that if I push into the ocean will make cat noises and try to swim to the dirt. They know it, I know it, and Rap Jesus knows. Lil Wayne freestyles his verses, but that’s a function of laziness. They call it “swagger”; I call it grandma ethics."

(Also, my 2 cents - Wayne's rock album is going to be divine bullshit).

Ah yes, it's impossible to picture Aaron Eckhart as anyone but Harvey Dent...not Two-Face...Harvey Dent. I feel like they're two completely different entities.
