Powers Boothe narrates a McCain ad

Surely I am not the first to notice this, but I thought it worth pointing out that Powers Boothe is now narrating political ads for McCain. I only picked up on this because I am currently finishing the sixth season of 24 -- the pro-torture show featuring a McCain cameo.

On the sixth season of 24 , Powers Boothe plays Noah Daniels, the super-hawk Vice President. Black president Wayne Palmer proves unwilling to simply go to war with the home country of a terrorist who struck a major American city, arguing that the terrorist is not state-supported. When Palmer is incapacitated Daniels, the acting president, launches a nuclear attack against Palmer's last wishes on the unnamed mid-east country immediately on a slim pretext; Daniels also supports detention facilities for middle-easterners.

Also, an endorsement from the guy who was both Gorilla Grodd AND Lex Luthor?

Doesn't bode well...

Season 6 was the absolute worst - I'm actually glad that we've not had 24 for almost a year and a half. I need to wash that out of my head.

Even the producers apologized, which is a sign of weakness, but damn, I think we deserved it.

Let's not forget that he also played the corrupt Senator Rourke in Sin City, who covered up the crimes of his pedophile song and then had him genetically engineereed into a freak after Hartigan shot his balls off in an attempt to ensure an heir and whose brother, Cardinal Rourke, harboured the cannibalistic Kevin... God, I love Sin City :)

marc -- where is this apology? I want to read it.

everyone - wow , that is a lot of reasons for this guy to not be doing a voiceover for mccain. I think Boothe also played mass murder Jim Jones. So Jim Jones, Lex Luthor (the evil president), Gorilla Grodd, evil Senator Rourke, and evil vice president Daniels.

Geoff: the apology was in the TV section of the New York Post around 3/4 of the way through S6 (~ May 2007). They basically said, "You'll never see anything like this from us again."

And yes, Boothe played Jim Jones.

Geoff,

According to Wikipedia, he won an EMMY for playing Jim Jones.

Is Christopher Walken endorsing anybody? I would pay to see/hear that?

And since we're on the subject of comic book villains and politics.
Anybody remember this?

Say what you will about Zod... at least he's honest about his facism.
