Free Form Comments

Say whatever you want to in the comments to this post -- random, off topic thoughts, ideas, suggestions, questions, recommendations, criticisms (which can be anonymous), surveys, introductions if you have never commented before, personal news, self-promotion, requests to be added to the blog roll and so on. If I forget, remind me. Remember these comments can be directed at all the readers, not just me.

ALSO. You can use this space to re-ask me questions you asked me before that I failed to answer because I was too busy.

AND you can use this space to comment on posts that are old enough that no one is reading the comments threads anymore.

You do not have to have a blogger account or gmail account to post a comment -- you can write a comment, write your name at the bottom of your comment like an e mail, and then post using the "anonymous" option.

WRITING FOR THIS BLOG. If I see a big free form comment that deserves more attention, I will pull it and make it its own post, with a label on the post and on the sidebar that will always link to all the posts you write for this blog. I am always looking for reviews of games, tv, movies, music and books.

Goeff Klock: Just in case you weren't aware - Bachalo's on Amazing Spider-Man for a two-parter starting this week, or today for you, I guess. I wish he was on something that came out a bit more regularly, but what're you gonna do.

Oh, and congratulations to you and Sara on being married! By the time you read this? Maybe?

It looks like one of our 'Lost Works' will finally see the light of day:

Chinese Democracy (currently) is scheduled (probably) to be released (hopefully) on November 23rd.

I have to buy this album: as a music fan, as a pop culture affcianado, as a cautious optimist, hell, as someone who enjoys trainwrecks... I just have to know what he's been doing for 15 years. The liner notes/album credits alone should make for interesting reading.

By the way, thoughts on the new single, "Chinese Democracy"? Completely Unremarkable.

I think it would be funny if the liner notes are just a band photo, no acknowledgment of anything out of the ordinary about this album whatsoever.

Also, allow me to shamelessly slef-promote my own blog. http://bigmattyj.blogspot.com .

Hey, so I'm trying to write this musical, right? Because of a rhyme I've got in one of the songs, one of the characters in the show -- a female -- has to have a last name that rhymes with "rock." And the entire name has to be three syllables.

Do you think Sara would mind ... ?

Caught that episode of 'South Park' last night, the continuation of 'The Startling.' As someone who hasn't missed an episode of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's episodic masterpiece of a sitcom, I feel hesitant to post any complaints about what I believe is the smartest show on TV (seriously). Alas, last night's episode was nothing short of a vast dissapointment.
The first episode in the 2-parter was clever, classic 'South Park', with the boys getting into a crazy scheme that gets them shipped off to some foreign land, government conspiracies that make no sense, constant parody of cliched Michael Bay movies, and a hilarious take on 'Cloverfield' at the episode's tail end. The ending also left the entire story in chaos, whereas I had no f*cking idea as to what was going on and couldn't even imagine where Parker and Stone were going with it. Classic 'South Park'. Subtltey mixed with moderation.
Part 2, though, feels like it was written and directed by George Lucas, with the 'Cloverfield' reference pounded into the ground and an ending that was a horrifying example of horrible Deus ex Machina, with the oft-forgotten character Craig, suddenly, being the harbinger of doom for the gigantic guinea pigs. The problem is that this episode relies on two jokes that stretch the entire length of its 24-minutes and it feels as if Parker and Stone, having trimmed a bit here and there, could've made 'The Startling' one episode instead of one great one followed by the obligatory second that ends up being mediocre at best. The entire plot revolves around Cloverfield-style giant guinea pigs and Craig complaining about being involved. That's it. Really. The episode may serve up a few chuckles here and there, but ultimatley it's extremely boring. The 'Cloverfield' joke wears off early on, yet we're continually exposed to it like ever more 'Star Wars' spinoffs. We get it. It was funny the first few times. Now it's not. Parker and Stone, though, like George Lucas, want us to keep sucking the tit of a single concept and we just get tired of it before they do.
As a lover of 'South Park', and it being the only show I watch regularly besides 'Scrubs' and football on Sundays and basketball...like everyday...I'll give Trey and Matt a mulligan on this one, but they better pick it up and start taking away more airtime from crap like 'The Sarah Silverman Program' and 'Chocolate News'.

Ok, so I go to a Halloween Party last night as Indiana Jones. Now I've been Indy before but, I think, this time I got the costume just right... old beat up leather jacket (check), whip (check), off white shirt that is vaguley explorerish (check), Dark brown pants (check), Idol-courtesey of one of the action figures, check... but I got trumped... there was another Indy... who's outfit was a tad more accurate than mine... and he got his friend to dress up as Henry Jones Sr.... I got the last laugh though, they spent the last few months scouring thrift stores for their outfits... total cost of mine? 2 bucks for the pair of dark brown pants (I had everything else)

Don't forget the man-bag. I'm going as Indiana Jones tonight, too. Except I'm wearing Nikes, it's all I have in my dorm. So it will be a modern Indy. Complete with crappy CGI effects and aliens that are actually better looking than the main female villain.

Oh, here's an idea... if anyone sees a really awesome/unique costume this year, snap a picture and maybe we can post some on here... The Jack Skelington I saw last night was quite the site to behold, unfortunately, I ran out of film :(
